JOE GOODWIN: Inducted June 12, 2003. Posted 06/12/2003 09:55 PM by cmonks in Utter Wonder Hall Of Fame.
Today's proud inductee is Joe Goodwin. Not only did Joe send in a photo of himself, but he sent a photo of himself with his family in regulation Starfleet attire. Yes, I know the photograph is a little scary. It's okay to feel scared at first. I know I did. Trekkies always make me feel jittery and withdrawn at first. I don’t know why; they just do. But it’s okay. I feel that it's important to embrace our initial feelings, no matter how fraidy-cat and weak they may seem, for only then can we understand and rationalize and drink our initial feelings away. So be scared. It's alright, really. Just send you roommate out for some Jack D., and sit and wait and be scared. For some, it may not be best to dwell on your fear, especially if you are prone to being overly-panicky. Look away from the Goodwin family's pick if you feel that will help. Maybe tape a piece of paper over where the photo is on your monitor. Just focus on my words; let them soothe you and make you stop crying for your mama. Here's something that may make you feel better: Joe himself is a little scared of the photo. In a statement he included with the pic he wrote this: On second thought, maybe the image of a bus of nuns being hijacked by a small boy dressed like Mr. Sulu doesn't put one at ease as I originally thought it would. Oh well, my apologies. Your roommate should be back soon and in short time all your fears and anxieties will melt away. Promise. For his courage and bravery and intestinal fortitude Joe received a signed copy of a fan letter I wrote to Star Jones to go along with being the fourth person inducted into Utter Wonder's Hall of Fame. As always, this could all be yours, readers. Just send me your pic and let the fame and adulation commence! And just for sake of clarification: Starfleet attire in your photo is not mandatory, nor is it really encouraged. I worry that a lot of readers have been flipped out today, so best not to push it. Thanks.
