clocks ahead!. Posted 04/02/2004 08:11 AM by cmonks in > scheduled events. Two pieces of self-promotion before the final chapter of this blog week sets sail for the everly-increasing choppy blog seas. I love oceanic imagery! Aargh!...um...matey...The fine lit-zine Hobart has up its annual baseball issue. Included in it is a story of mine about a lonely right fielder. And just so we're clear, I played first base. Okay? Got that? Good. Next, over at (parenthetical note) the latest installment of my obituary column is available for all to see. I tackled some heavy-hitters this go around. Without a helmet, too. So, go for it. Now, on with today's entry...
I love daylight savings time. Why? Well, because I love daylight. It's not that I am afraid of the dark or anything. Because I'm not. Honest. No, I can handle the dark as bravely as anybody. Especially when I'm in the company of Mommy. But that's beside the point; I'm here today to proclaim my love for daylight savings time! Wait a sec. Is it "daylight savings time" or "daylight saving time"? Both sound correct in their own way. I could Google it, but I haven't got time. I'm having a daylight savings/saving time party. It also happens to be Lil' Buddy's first birthday, but I think he understands just where my priorities lie. I mean, daylight savings/saving time has been happening for many years, long before he was born. So of course daylight savings/saving time gets top billing on my party's banner. Come to think of it, I should really know whether it's "savings" or "saving". You know, for my party's banner. The thing is huge. If there's a spelling mistake on it people will notice for blocks around. Plus I'm sure my neighbor's mean teenage sons will give me a hard time about it. They're incorrigible. Violent, too. Not sure they're much for spelling. Both of them are Occ-Ed students. Still, can't afford to take a chance. So give me a minute to Google for the correct spelling. ... Alrighty, it's "daylight saving time." Glad that's settled. Apparently, the United States adopted daylight saving time in 1918. So basically, Lil' Buddy has no business complaining about being second fiddle this weekend. He's been around for all of a year whereas daylight Here's hoping that now Lil' Buddy is one-year-old he begins to develop a little maturity. He's been acting like a baby recently. Kids today. Anyway, I'm off to do the banner. Am using purple and orange crayons. I'm a fan of purple and orange anything. I think it's a highly underrated color combo. You feel me, right, Clemson University? Sure 'nuff. Have a nice weekend.
