Open Thread.

Posted 10/08/2004 08:06 AM by cmonks in > you don't know what it's like to be me.

buffets are overrated.Happy Friday. I'm kind of on the busy side what with receiving my new Ab Lounge 2 earlier this week and all. My abs are getting worked liked they've never been worked before! Hot damn! Yes, the Ab Lounge could stand to use a snack cup holder, but perhaps that feature will appear on the Ab Lounge 3. Anyway, I don't have time to post anything substantial today. Instead, I thought I'd create an open thread for anyone wishing to make a comment or to just say "Hey" or whatever. I've noticed a lot of the big time bloggers do this with a lot of success, so I figured I would, too. You're welcome.

Have a great weekend. Hope your Columbus Day party is a mutha and whatnot. I'll return with a new post on Tuesday.

This post is dedicated to muffins.

Comments.

Hi. Okay, so maybe people are just a little shy and feel intimidated to be the first to post a comment on this open thread. No biggie. I'll get things rolling then...So, hey, how's it going everybody?

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 10:39 AM

I'm well. Thanks for asking.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 10:46 AM

Good to hear you're doing good!

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 10:48 AM

I didn't say I was "good". I said I was "well".

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 10:50 AM

Oh. Sorry.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 10:52 AM

Don't worry about it. (Loser.)

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 10:56 AM

Thanks--hey, wait a second! I'm not a loser!

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 10:58 AM

You're not? Coulda fooled me. I mean, you leave this open thread and nobody bothers to leave a comment in it. That shouts "loser!" to me big time.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 11:00 AM

What are you talking about? We're leaving all sorts of comments on this open thread.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 11:02 AM

Go Sox!

Posted by: yourbabysmama at 10/08/2004 11:02 AM

Yeah, but we don't count.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 11:04 AM

We don't?--Hey, who was that? Someone just left a comment besides us.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 11:06 AM

I noticed that. No clue. They implied we have had a child with them, too.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 11:09 AM

I know. Weird. Anyway, I'm going to have a sandwich now.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 11:21 AM

Hi. I am on the west coast. It's only 8:30 here which is why I haven't added to the "thread".

Posted by: Patti at 10/08/2004 11:24 AM

Hi Patti. Thanks for adding to the thread, but I'm having a sandwich right now so I can't really focus on what you're trying to say.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 11:27 AM

In case anybody cares, I'm eating a turkey sandwich.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 11:46 AM

But probably nobody cares. They're all too busy worrying about their own sandwiches. That's so selfish. If more people cared about what kinds of sandwiches other people (like me) were having then there would be no war.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 11:48 AM

Why was that person screaming like a maniac?

Posted by: Dan at 10/08/2004 12:16 PM

Hi Dan. I'm sure whatever person you heard that was screaming like a maniac was interesting and all, but again, we're talking about my sandwich here. Please, people: focus.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 12:40 PM

So, yep, it was turkey on whole wheat with a little mayo, onion, tomato, sprouts, and lettuce. Tasty. Could have used some pickles, but I'm not gonna get worked up about that.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 12:43 PM

I mean, when you order your turkey sandwich with pickles you expect to get a turkey sandwich with pickles, but whatever. I guess that's what you get when you go to a Hmong delicatessen and you don't speak Hmong.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 12:49 PM

Is it just me, or is there something disturbingly submissive about the way the guy in the Ab Lounge 2 has his hands linked beneath the bar over his head...

Posted by: Special K at 10/08/2004 01:12 PM

Oh - and sorry your sandwich sucked without pickles.

Posted by: Special K at 10/08/2004 01:20 PM

I'm in Pittsburgh and it's 2:00 here. I just woke up, so that's why I haven't added to the thread. I don't like pickles anyway.

Posted by: Sarah at 10/08/2004 02:02 PM

Hi Special K. Yes, I think if one were two examine that Ab Lounge 2 photo long enough they'd find numerous disturbing things within it. But back to my sandwich. Who doesn't put pickles on a sandwich? What kind of crazy culture would leave pickles off a turkey sandwich? Don't get me wrong, I love the Hmong. They're a proud and beautiful people. But still, that's no excuse for leaving pickles off a sandwich.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 02:11 PM

Hi Sarah. Wow. Waking up at 2pm? Goodness. If you were married you'd make a prime candidate for Wife Swap. It seems every week at least one of the wives has funky sleeping habits. And, like, 40 pets.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 02:12 PM

Who's the boss?

Posted by: Dan at 10/08/2004 03:26 PM

Judith Light. Hands down. Most people say Tony Danza is the boss, and some even contend that Alyssa Milano is the boss, but those people are dumb and poorly dressed.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 03:33 PM

I'm a fan of Trading Spouses myself.

Posted by: Sarah at 10/08/2004 03:46 PM

I'm glad you said Judith Light. Really, I am. For so many reasons. And I agree with you.

Posted by: Dan at 10/08/2004 04:09 PM

I always thought Katherine Helmond made the best boss. Also, I am currently wearing an authoritative yet stylish blazer.

Posted by: Gene at 10/08/2004 04:15 PM

So, is everyone trying to say that just because Jonathan is gay, he can't be the boss?

Posted by: hsw at 10/08/2004 04:32 PM

I think the guy in the Ab Lounge 2 chair wants someone to show him who the boss is...

Posted by: Special K at 10/08/2004 04:33 PM

See what happens when you have an open thread? Something as wholesome and good for you as the Ab Lounge 2 chair winds up as a submissive sex toy. Sort of.

Could we move on to hotdogs? That's what we're having for dinner. These will be pickle free but my husband does like his with a little relish. He puts it on top of the chili. Is that gross or what?

Posted by: Kat at 10/08/2004 05:16 PM

Hey, does anybody have the time?

Posted by: winnerofthesat at 10/08/2004 05:17 PM

I enjoy hot dogs. But relish on top of chili does not sound good. It sounds bad. Wait, actually now that I think about it it doesn't sound THAT bad. I used to live by a joint called Fat Burger and they would put an over easy egg on your burger if you wanted. With chili and bacon too. One time i got chili on my shirt.

Posted by: Dan at 10/08/2004 05:31 PM

Hot dogs with chili and relish sounds like a gastromonical nightmare. But more power to you if you can handle that. We had pizza. It'll mean more Ab Lounge 2 crunches, but it was worth it. Even if they forgot to put pickles on the thing.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 09:16 PM

Oh, and it's 9:24.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 09:24 PM

And just because I'm home on a Friday night doesn't mean I'm a loser. So get those mean thoughts out of heads. Thanks.

And I forgot about both Katherine Helmond and Jonathon. I guess in certain situations both could be the boss. Like if there was some sort of terroist incident or something. I could see Helmond like totally taking over and fending them off and stuff. And if there was like a real high pressured synchonize swimming meet, I'd feel real comfortable with Jonathon being the boss then.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/08/2004 09:28 PM

What happend to the turkey sandwich?

Posted by: nick at 10/09/2004 09:28 PM

those last two posts were exactly a day apart at 9:28 p.m.

spooky.

Posted by: Darby at 10/10/2004 03:20 PM

hey. it's only 12:21 p.m. here. and that last post said it was 3:20 p.m. Have I discovered some sort of time warp?

Posted by: Darby at 10/10/2004 03:22 PM

Hi Darby. Shhh. Ixnay on the time warp-ay.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/10/2004 04:45 PM

Yawn! Its too early for this, but I just had to check in and see what I missed this weekend.
What's for breakfast?

Posted by: Special K at 10/11/2004 08:29 AM

A plate of bacon and a V8

Posted by: Darby at 10/11/2004 12:05 PM

I had eggs with a side of pickles. It also has come to my attention that my spelling of "ixnay on the time warp-ay" is nowhere near close to correct pig latin. Sorry. My bad. I never really learned pig latin when I was a kid. Because I was cool.

Posted by: cmonks at 10/11/2004 12:48 PM

I had three wheat crackers with peanut butter and a cup of tea. I made up for my simple breakfast at lunch with Spinach Cheese Ravioli with extra tomato sauce and a small house salad with Creamy Basil Pesto dressing on the side. Whats for dinner?

Posted by: Special K at 10/11/2004 04:36 PM

I'll just sniff the mints and absorb moisture from the air.
