SHAUNA and ANNIE McKENNA: Inducted October 7, 2004.

i'm still 34, damn it!I'm honored and blessed to officiate over the first Utter Wonder Hall of Fame induction since the redesign of this site. I had worried that the new high-end look would intimidate people from being brave and courageous and intestinal fortitudinal, but clearly that is not the case, for today we induct not one, but two new people into the UWHOF.

In fact, it's a day full of firsts for the Hall. Not only is it the first induction since the site's revamp, but it's the first mother/daughter induction, as well. Today's inductees are Shauna McKenna and her lovely daughter Annie. We've never had a mother/daughter combo enshrinement. Ever! I find that strange given that Utter Wonder caters greatly to the mother/daughter demographic. I mean, that's what that whole week devoted to the importance of a good diet and a disciplined beauty regime a couple of years ago was all about. Regardless, we're happy a mom and daughter duo finally stepped up and put their brave and courageous and intestinal fortitudinal selves on the line by submitting their application for the UWHOF.

The mother half of today's inductees is an accomplished writer whose work can be found pretty much anywhere. In addition, she runs her own online fiction magazine, moonshinestill, and is an editor of the esteemed literary site Pindeldyboz, too. Shauna and I also share the privilege of being mutually slammed in what is now considered to be a major work of internet literature. I think it's safe to say that withstanding the fiery onslaught of that personal attack instilled in Shauna McKenna the same bravery and courage and intestinal fortitudinal that she used to apply to the UWHOF.

As for her daughter, well, it's clear that the apple doesn't fall very far from the mountain orchard rainbow? tree, because little Annie McKenna clearly exhibits the same bravery and courage and intestinal fortitude that her mother does. At only 15 months months of age (today no less!), Annie McKenna is by far the youngest inductee ever into the Hall. (Sorry, Reed Gleason, but you ain't the baby of the inductees any more. And actually it's good thing, too, because those diapers and that rattle have been freaking people out. You're, like, in high school, bro.)

So now let's do like we always do during an induction and stare at our inductees' photo for a duration no longer than five seconds. Begin!

One one-thousand...

Two one-thousand...

Three one-thousand...

Four one-thousand...

Five one-thousand.

Well done. So what do we think of Shauna and Annie McKenna's photo? I think it's quite a nice shot of maternal love. Shauna appears very devoted to Annie, and Annie would too if it were not for that pesky birthday sign dangling from the ceiling begging her with its bright happy colors to touch it and stick it in her mouth. I wonder whose birthday party it was. I love birthday parties. Especially mine. I have one coming up. I'm not big on revealing my age, but let's just say I'll be turning another year older, if you know what I'm saying? Wait. Do you? That didn't make sense, did it? I wanted to imply that I would be turning 35, but without saying that I'd be turning 35 because I know a lot of my readers are in their 20s and think people who are in their 30s are old and washed up. Well, let me assure you that 35 is not old and washed up at all! Not one bit! Besides, it's not even my birthday yet, thus I'm still 34 for a few weeks, so put a sock in your oh-so-cool-and-young mouth why don't you. Jesus. Nothing worse than ageism. I mean, it's not like I'm 40. It's not like I'm walking around and forgetting where I put my reading glasses and bitching and moaning about how lame popular music is these days or something.

Anyway, let's move on. I hereby officially induct Shauna and Anna McKenna into Utter Wonder's Hall of Fame. For their bravery and courage and intestinal blah-blah-blah they received a signed copy of a fan letter I sent to Star Jones. I suppose they're framing it right now as I type, because, of course, the letter is more than suitable for framing.

You can have a fan letter suitable for framing, as well. In fact I'd love you to have one. All you have to do is send me an actual photo of yourself and you will well be on your way to internet fame. I'd like to have 35 inductees by Veteran's Day, so help a blogga' out and submit. You probably won't regret it. I swear!
