Comments.

You might take note that though Celine Dion is our national air carrier's mascot she spends the majority of her time residing (and performing) in your country, not ours.

we may not have as many "Dunkin' Donuts" but we do have plenty of donut joints - more per capita than anywhere else in the world, in fact.

I think that moving to Canada would definitely be a viable alternative to living under your current adminstration. Erin is right about Celine Dion, although I think she might be popular in Quebec, but she would sing in French there so it might be easier for you to block it out. But hey, we have RUSH. That must make up for Celine Dion AND Alanis Morrisette.

a friend sent me your url, i just got a few good laughs out of the girls reading the pros and cons, and admit that moving northward sounds appealing right about now (if i can block out debby boone and whitney houston, as i have had to do over the years, i can handle celine dion).
our strategy for now, however, is to consider maine an un-annexed maritime province, and hope the health insurance card arrives before i contract some awful, intractable, expensive malady, which i can't afford. of course, we just elected an awful, intractable, expensive malady, so how could i be worse off?

Hiya Erin:
Stickler!

Hiya smartygirl:
Me likes what me read!

Hiya Crystal:
Rush is awesome, but you failed to mention Bryan Adams and Alan Thicke. I don't think even Rush can make up for Celine, Alanis, Bryan, and Alan.

Hiya ognatius:
Thanks for the heads up. And I realize that I shouldn't complain too much given I live in one of the bluest blue states around--even with a republican/mormon governor.

Hiya Rick Prose:
You could be worse off if Stevens and Ginsberg decide to retire tomorrow, and Souter gets hit by a bus. But thanks for stopping by, please come again. I do like the idea of moving to Maine. It's like Outlet Mall City up there.

LOVE the map

If some of the cons persuade you not to actually move to Canada, you can still become a Virtual Canadian. See http://VirtualCanadian.org for more info.

I was born in the U.S. and have lived here my whole life. This past Tuesday's election makes me so embarrassed to say that I am an American.

I have always toyed with the idea of moving to Canada, in large part because I have been a Toronto Blue Jays fanatic since the age of 8, and my numerous visits to the city never disappoint me. Now I am seriously considering the move. I would rather listen to Celine Dion all day than live in a country run by shotgun-toting, bible-freak rednecks.

I love the map too and love Canada. I wish Canada would invade us.

You know, Canada is a fantastic country, I could never imagine growing up anywhere else. However, I do have to point out that if all the Democrats move to Canada, there will never again be a democratic government in the States. Think about this, there will be bumbling idiots who are anti abortion, anti gay marriage and pro guns (among other things) running the most influential country in the world forever. We all know this is a BAD idea. We would love to have you here don't get me wrong, but think about the consequences to the rest of the world.

Canada is the best place in the world to live, besides maybe Switzerland. I could go on and on, but you should just pack up and move here. But, please don't come to Edmonton.. we have had enough of an influx, being the best place in Canada to live, currently. Please move to BC. Or, if you really wanna piss off your government, insult them by moving to Saskatchewan!

When I'm feeling bitter sometimes I imagine the US that way, but in reality it's much more complex, which I find comforting in a way.

As a health care professional in the USA I see a lot of well off Canadians here in the states. You might ask why this is? The answer is simple, if you want free health care you get what you pay for, and if you want good health care you come to the states. Some of the same Doctors I graduated with are in Canada and are looking and waiting for there chance to come back to the states so they can relearn skills as a doctor. As Far as US politics and the Nove 2nd Elections. Canada lives off the US as its neighbor. With out the US there is no Canada. The US if far better off with Bush than with Gore or Kerry. One of your pros was less likley to have a terrosit attack. This is a true statement with Bush in office. The reason the terroist are fighting soliders now and not civilians. Civilians when fighting terroist die. When soliders fight terrorist the terroist die also. By the way I have seen the Baghdad, Baquba, Sadr City, Balad, Nasiriyah, and Kabul. I know what the war is for and what it is like to lose a friend. Me and 76% of the Military voted for Bush becasue we believe in freedom for America and the World.

Why am I even bothering to write this? I'm not sure, but anyway...Just so you guys know, "Celine Dion" is one of the "bumbling...anti-abortion...idiots" that you so despise...and she's Canadian. So you won't necessarily escape the "Jesus people" that you speak of. Both she and her husband are devout Melkite Catholics (an Eastern Rite of the Catholic Church). Her mother almost aborted her before a priest told her not to. I won't even begin to touch on why I'm pro-life because I'm sure that none of you would listen, but I'll tell you this much: it has nothing to do with my religion. Room for discussion? Who knows. And let's get real here...no state will be annexed by Canada.

You guys are all freaks! I do love Canada and would love to own atleast one home there one day. I also love the United States and our president. He is doing a very good job and is saving all of our butts from being invaded by the stupid people in Iraq. If we do not take care of all of this now and in their country we will one day in the future be facing it here. I fear for my safety and although you are all wrong I fear for yours too. I do not know what all of you have against Celine Dion. She has done nothing to any of you (except being alive the way you all are talking) She is sharing her talent. If you don't like her don't listen to her. She is by far the best singer out there and obviously cares more about America than all of you idiots do! She happens to be one of my favorites and is the sweetest lady ever. You probably don't like her because you are jealous of her. She has everything anyone could ever want. First of all she has money, then her family who supports her 100%. Her husband who stands by her and an adorable son. So all of you need to get a life, or maybe all of you liberals who are opposing the war should be on the front lines in Iraq! They are not very nice people and if you would pay attention you would know! Just because George Bush is a devout man of God doesn't mean that he is a shotgun-toting, bible-freak redneck.

After reading the comments here and talking to people who have been to Canada, I 'm very tempted to move up north away from the United States. There's so many things wrong with this country, its hard to say anything good about it anymore. I mean with Bush and his crazy Neo-Cons; the enormous amount of racism in the country; Rush Limbaugh and the other far-right nutcases and Iraq, I feel America is becoming an autocratic country like Nazi Germany. America has so much divisions economically, racially, and politically, it's hard to live in a country where everybody has there own agenda. I would like to know from some of the people here: what is the best area in Canada to live and work in? Any answers would be greatly appreciated!
