Happy Valentine's Day. I wish I could be more excited about the holiday, but this year things are different. This year marks the first time in three years that Valentine's Day and President's Day don't fall on the same weekend. So you can see why this year Valentine's Day is somewhat of a letdown.

Don't get me wrong: I will still go all out and get buck wild today. But one has to acknowledge that there's no way it'll top the last two Valentine's celebrations that fell on the same weekend as President's Day.

I mean, come on: When combined Valentine's Day and President's Day are rivaled by no other holiday combo. Arbor Day and April Fool's Day? No way. Easter and St. Patrick's Day? Ha-ha, it is to laugh. Flag Day and International Dental Assistants' Day? Well, now you best get out of my face because you just talkin' like a fool.

Valentine's Day and President's Day are natural partners in the world of holidayshipishness. The past two years were crazy--CRAZY! Can't remember when I ever had more fun. There's nothing like getting romantic with your lover while at the same time attending historical society sponsored lectures about past presidents. It's insane! Never have I indulged in so much Russell Stover chocolate and Calvin Coolidge anecdotes. Shit made me tingle all over all weekend long--ALL WEEKEND LONG.

But this year I will try to make the best of it. This weekend was about Valentine's Day; next weekend will be about President's Day. Nothing else we can do. It's not like we can change the calendar or anything. Even if we could that would just screw up the rest of year. July 4th would be in the end of June. That wouldn't work.

Despite it all, I hope you are able to share the day today with someone you hold dear. And if you're single and alone I apologize for ever having brought it up. As for me, I'll spend the day preparing for a night of love by working out on my BowFlex and double vacuuming the house. Doing those things usually guarantees me some action. Wish me luck!
