Okay, technically, this isn't a flowering plant. It's also not in my garden. It's not even real; it's a pretend plant, a doodleplant. Still, I figured that since today is Wednesday, and that Wednesdays are Doodledays, I might as well feature it for today's installment of Flowers In My Garden Week. The plant doesn't have a name. I just refer to it as "Doodleplant." That doesn't mean I think less of the plant or anything; I just never have got around to naming it something. Yes, it's awkward when introducing it to friends, but people are usually polite and don't say anything when I introduce Doodleplant without a real name. They smile and nod and ask if it's okay to go now, because they have things to do back in the real world. At that point I typically get all huffy and ask them why they want to stop pretending with me and if I had done something wrong. No, no, they say. We just are a little freaked out right now and need to be in a safer, less imaginary and messed up place. Okay, cool, I tell them. And it is then when I usually bury my hands in my face and cry.
