Another Casualty-Free Reading is in the Books.

The 4th Utter Wonder Humor Reading took place last night. I'm happy to report that once again nobody died as a result of it. I think that must be a record of some sort, as far as humor readings go. Better yet, last night marked the first time a reader of this site who I don't know personally attended the event. That was particularly awesome. She got a big hug from me. Hope that makes the remaining 7.42 of you jealous. You deserve it.

At any rate, I neglected to load my camera with fresh batteries, so I couldn't take any pictures. Fortunately, Ravi Jain from DriveTime was there and he snapped a few. Check it:

Here's G. Xavier Robillard showing the audience his entry for our Thanksgiving Decoration Slam. That's a blurry photo of his elbow with "1620" inscribed on it. It was a "living" Thanksgiving decoration. Very green of him. Al Gore and the polar bears would be so proud.

This was my Thanksgiving decoration. It was a turkey made out of photocopies of my glorious toes. I think it might be the best arts and crafts thing I have ever made in my entire life.

And here's winner Jason Roeder holding the $17,000 trophy that I bought at Party Time. His entry was a detailed drawing of the first Thanksgiving, complete with Pilgrims, Indians, and Scientologists. It was quite moving. Afterwards Jason gave the audience a personality quiz. Good times.

Comments.

Glad to hear it went well C. But dude: I know of 3 unknown-to-you Vancouverite UW fans who were in attendance at the last Humor Reading session at the Plough and Stars. Your star power probably just ended up being too much for them to work up the nerve to say hi. (God only knows how they would have dealt with the glory of your photocopied toes.) Utter Wonder: HUGE in Vancouver.

That bit with your toes and the turkey is possibly the most simultaneously creative and disgusting bit of arts-n-crafts I have ever seen. I suppose it's an excellent kick-off to some merry holidays.

Oh, god, the pun.
