My Review of Madagascar 2.

Aside from the fistfight that broke out between two dads in the row in front of us, Madagascar 2 was an absolute delight. The voice work, in particular, was strong, as Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith revived their roles splendidly. And Alec Baldwin clearly enjoyed his part as the heavy; he played it with such menacing aplomb! In fact he was so captivating that even when I was covered in flung nachos I remained completely riveted.

And the animation! Simply remarkable. What they can do from the technological end of things is really a sight to behold. I could see every strand of hair in the lions' manes! Despite the Diet Sprite running down my face!

And the film score can't go without mention. It provided the perfect soundtrack for the film, from its campy, silly moments to its more sober, life lesson-y moments. Yes, It did fail to drown out the one dad's cry of "Don't fuck with me, motherfucker!" but my guess is the composer did not have that in mind when scoring the film.

In the end, I'll give Madagascar 2 a solid three and a half stars. It's a load of fun for the whole family and way better than King Fu Panda, which we saw last summer next to a young family whose daughter threw up on my oldest son's shoes. I'll take filling out a police report over cleaning vomit off a traumatized child's feet any day of the week.

This post is dedicated to being interviewed.

Comments.

I've been looking forward to this movie. Part one left so many unanswered questions.
