A Match Made in Heaven.

Ronald Cummings' daughter five-year-old Misty has been missing for a month now. The last person to see her was his 17-year-old girlfriend/babysitter, Misty Croslin. So Cummings did what any other father would do under such terrible circumstances: He got hitched.

On Sunday Ronald Cummings asked his teenage girlfriend, Misty Croslin, for her hand in marriage at a local Chili's restaurant. While he was with several family members, Cummings got down on one knee, asked Croslin to marry him and gave her Haleigh's grandmother's diamond ring.

They got married yesterday. Sure, the timing of the nuptials might seem a little odd, but then again they did get engaged at Chili's. Who wouldn't want to get engaged at Chili's? Plus, according to the bride it's what Haleigh would want:

"Everybody is probably going to take this marriage thing the wrong way," Croslin told WJXT. "This is what Haleigh wanted. She has always talked about it, and even if she's not with us, she is still with us."

Croslin added, "Haleigh also wanted her Mr. Cummings her dad Ronald to buy me a new jet ski and tickets to a Taylor Swift concert. And an iPhone. And one of those Snuggies things, you know, the blanket with sleeves. Haleigh wanted her dad to get me so much. She rocked rocks!"

Comments.

They got married so they could not be compelled to testify against each other.

All we can do is pray that the detectives are smarter than Ronald and Misty. Nice that they waited a whole month before moving on with their lives.

I just don't get it. How do people with no brains able to produce a child and get their teenage girlfriend/babysitter to help get rid of her. Truly disgusting.

I hope these two get what's coming to them. Real soon.

I wish I could bump into this guy......for just a moment.....while God is looking the other way.

Whoa.

Whoa, whoa, WHOA, there, buckies.

Remember that whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing? I know it's bordering on a cliche nowadays but will you allow a former lawyer to explain it a bit more to you?

It's not "innocent until the media coverage overwhelms you and you get so tired of hearing about the whole thing that you want it to go away."

Nor is it "innocent until the accused does something stupid that you yourself would NEVER do in a million years."

It's not even "innocent until you get an icky feeling."

Proven. As in "court." As in "trial." As in "verdict from jury."

It's not just a good idea, it is, in fact, the law. And it's also the moral thing to do.

Are they guilty? I have no idea. Maybe. Maybe not. But this recent tendency to excoriate people caught up in tragedy before all the facts have been demonstrated in a court of law, at least where criminal behavior is concerned, is more than regrettable - it's hateful, and it needs to stop.

I'm sure little Haleigh is smiling down on them. (From the attic, where they hid the body.)

Really? The presumption of innocence applies to dumbasses like me on a website? Awesome! I thought it only applied to the government!

Wow. A lecture on the law and morals. Funny that, I never thought the two necessarily went together. Each of us is entitled to her or his own opinion whether anyone else likes it or not. Until I'm called to serve on a jury I'll keep my opinion.

"verdict from a jury" -n- 1.the product of a court of law, not a court of justice.

Wait a minute there, fellow buckies. Maybe there's a legitimate argument here. Remember how weird O.J. acted after those two murders? And how many of us just assumed he was guilty? Boy did we have egg on our faces when he was found "not guilty." And now he's living a productive life...well...from behind bars.
