Not that you asked or anything but, yep, I made it through Earth Hour in one piece. It was touch and go there for a while, though. Around minute eight I began to gently rock and weep. Hadn't gone that long without electricity in, like, forever. Sure, the television was still on, but watching the Pitt/Villanova game wasn't the same with all the lights off. The reading headlamp I wore helped a little, but it was hard not to feel a little silly wearing the thing, especially given the two flashlights I was holding. Still, though, I couldn't help but feel proud of how committed we were to the experience. Or how committed it looked like we were. I mean, from our street it really probably looked like we had some serious environmentally conscious flavor up in here, particularly if you ignored the glow from our HDTV. And the flashlights. And the 20 minutes I turned all the lights in the kitchen on so I could safely use our high-powered blender to make a milkshake. Regardless, I don't think anyone could deny that I love the environment to death and want to do whatever I can to make it awesome and stuff. That's what makes me a very serious person of consequence. Yay, Earth!
