Bad Things Happen to Good Halls of Fame.

this is not an iWon.com weekly winner. as far as i know anyway. So it seems bravery and courage and intestinal fortitude only goes so far for some people. A past inductee of the UWHOF has requested to have their name and image removed from the Hall. Apparently she (or he!) was uncomfortable about his (or her!) induction ceremony being the first thing that popped up whenever she (or he!) Googled himself (or herself - or itself!). So she (or whatever!) politely asked for me to erase any evidence that she (!?!) had anything to do with the Hall.

Now, I'm not going to lie to you: this one hurts. It hurts BAD. The UWHOF was started because another person asked to have their name and photograph removed from Utter Wonder. In reaction, I put out a call to those who were brave and courageous and intestinal fortitudinal enough to have the image displayed on my blog for all 8.72 readers of mine to see. Since then over 50 people have stepped up and applied to the Utter Wonder Hall of Fame, and it's because of them that the UWHOF is one of the top 3000 blog halls of fame in all of Eastern Massachusetts.

But suddenly one of the people who I thought was worthy of the Hall and all its make-believe glory has decided that she/he/it has had enough. They are concerned that public knowledge of their Hall of Fame status will inhibit them from finding employment or getting into school or meeting Mr. or Miss Right on eHarmony.

So now the UWHOF has one less member -- one less member with a name or gender, that is. I've left their induction up on the site. I've adhered to their request and removed their name and altered their pic, but I couldn't stomach erasing their entire induction because my ego is too enormous to process the soul crush that would bring.

Alrighty, I really don't want to type about this anymore, so let's just leave it at that. But for the record, if you happen to be a member of the UWHOF, don't go getting any ideas. I mean it.

That's cold C. Must have cut deep.

I think my picture on UWHOF is one of my better ones. And I love to Google myself and find me there!

Wait, I just Googled myself and I didn't find me here. Apparently there must be more than one Patti Evans doing stuff in the US.

Jealous! I wish my UWHOF entry was at the top of a Google search on my name.

Why would you want to date/marry someone, or attend a school, or work for someone that policed your blogs?!

Forget her (or him). If she (or he) can't stand the fame then she (or he) doesn't deserve recognition in UWHOF.

Geez, I just looked at my Induction entry and had not realized that I was inducted into the UWHOF way back in July, 2003. What a different world it was back then. I can hardly remember those pre-UWHOF days. Was President Lincoln still president back then? Man do I feel old. Of course, I still have manly man arms because I still build houses for rich people in rich suburbs of Boston, but my web site has changed. And yes, I still read UW almost every day and have done so for these past six years. And yes, I will someday make it out of my house to attend a CMonks reading.
