Literary Death Match: Boston.

ldm.jpgI'll be a judge in the Boston debut of Opium Magazine's Literary Death Match this Thursday night at the Paradise Lounge. Not that any of you have ever bothered to attend any of my other appearances, but I just thought I'd mention it anyway. Steve Almond, Jeannie Greeley, William Giraldi and Jane Roper will be the contestants. Eve Bridburg and Tom Perrotta will be co-judging with me. I'm a little nervous about it, as I don't have much experience judging stuff. The last thing I judged was your shirt – which by the way still sucks – but I will do my best. I have my robe and wig picked out. Now all I need is a mallet and my own bailiff. I read somewhere that a judge isn't really a judge until they have their personal bailiff. So if you know of any, let me know. Thanks.

Sounds like you'll be looking sharp, C. You, know with this internet thing, some of your fans might not live close-by. (It's a little far for me to drive from Florida even with an adult diaper.) But we'll all be there, cheering you on in spirit!

My travel plans don't have me going to Boston until September. Sorry. You will do just fine as long as your garb doesn't make you look like Judge Judy.

Although I am slender and not particularly tall, I have powerful calves and an intimidating glare and think that I would make an excellent bailiff. If you need me, I'm your man!
